Welcome to the website of the project on Structures and Standards of Initial Training for History Teachers in Europe

 

The project is supported by the European Commission in the framework of Socrates programmes 6.1.2 and 6.2 (general activities of observation, analysis and innovation).

It is co-ordinated by a team of experts of history didactics at the department of economic and social history of the University of Vienna, Austria.

The project aims at producing a comparative study on tenets, structures and standards of initial training for history teachers in Europe. More than 20 European countries from East and West, North and South contribute to this project.

Teacher Training is an investigation in the future of the European Society. History teaching plays an important role in acquiring historical consciousness and social skills at all levels of education.

 

Contributors to the project: Council of Europe, Euroclio, Research institutes in Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, as well as experts from Belgium, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Switzerland.
